Log file analysis

I did a little bit of post-performance analysis of my last blog post "Log file analysis for SEO." Link to the article: https://www.suganthan.com/blog/logfile-analysis-seo/ I had roughly 3626 hits in the 45 days. Top traffic sources came from Twitter, Linkedin and all the awesome newsletters. One of my favourite sayings is “learn from the mistakes of others” It describes my approach to competitor analysis perfectly. I love figuring out what my rivals did wrong so I don’t walk into the same wall. And, of course, it’s always nice to learn what they did right to incorporate those ideas into my own marketing strategy.  However, looking at your rivals’ SEO ups and downs without any context won’t help you make the right decisions. That being said, I believe that context is key when analyzing your competitors. It is well worth spending the time on beforehand research to get a full picture of the…

On 24 January during a Google NYC meetup, John Mueller, Google’s Senior Webmaster Trends Analyst, said that in the coming year, webmasters and SEOs would have to start thinking about Image Search a little differently. Mentioning that it would be a “bigger topic” during 2019, Mueller said that users may in fact start using Image Search to do new things, such as accomplish tasks, purchase goods online, or even to learn something new. He also said that SEOs and webmasters would need to start thinking differently about how they optimise for Image Search. The overlooked art of image optimisation Although Mueller didn’t…
